After an unusual upbringing, Claire decides to leave her Edinburgh home and travel to visit her old school friend who lives on Vancouver Island. Once there, she palms off her son, having persuaded him to pretend his father is dead. She sets out to find a job and a wealthy husband, and eventually finds both. She also finds herself in a very dangerous situation: her life is threatened. A prison sentence is likely. Can she find someone to believe her?

Pamela d. Holloway cannot remember a time when she didn't write. It started at school with essays turning into short stories. Married to her childhood sweetheart at 20 the next years were filled with babies, who as they grew older listened to her magical stories of imaginary lands and weird animals. Now free to turn to novels she has written a number of books and was finally encouraged to look for publication. This is her second published book. Her first being A Different Kind of Life., available on Amazon.

this is a winning book on every count. It stands alone as a novel even though carrying on from “A Different Life”. It has a fresh and original storyline and a momentum that keeps one’s concentration chapter after chapter.
The background details are sketched in well and the research is impeccable. Importantly the characters are utterly believable and the gradual change in the character of Claire, taking her from a less than likeable individual to someone the reader can really care for is handled with consummate subtlety.
I very much enjoyed this book and believe it will find favour with a wide readership. I’m now looking forward to the third book to know how the story of the sisters progresses.

The fresh, optimistic spirit of the author has given us a second novel, where human warmth, friendship and kindness enlighten the darkness of this world. The myth of Pandora’s box, from which evils were released into the world, is used in the story with its strong symbolism - a very intelligent idea.
