I was kindly sent this book by Austin Macauley Publishers in exchange of an honest review.
The first part of this book is about a father and son who were born in Ireland but moved to Canada. His father has sadly died and the book recaps on a trip they took together back to Ireland. It discusses in depth about the different places in Ireland and also about the sons brief romantic encounters.
The book talks about what Ireland was like during the war which was interesting to read, as being British, I’ve only ever heard about it from our version of events.
The second part of the book is 8 short stories about different events that happened in the authors life. I found these story’s to be funny, thought provoking and also emotional.
I’ve always wanted to visit Ireland and after reading this book my desire to visit is even bigger. It’s written very well and has aspects that everyone would enjoy.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone, its great for people who either want to visit Ireland and learn a bit more about it’s history or for anyone who lives/lived there to reminisce about things they may have forgotten or perhaps to learn something new.
