It is so easy to waste time, sometimes thinking about what we are lacking and maybe feeling sorry for ourselves, instead of getting up and going, as we never know just what is around the next corner of our lives.
Mike Wainwright has been many things in his varied life: sportsman, teacher, brass band member, mountain climber... the list goes on. From his Salvation Army beginnings in a small town in Lancashire and beyond to his current life in Africa, this open, honest and overwhelmingly human memoir tells the story of a life lived to the full. Mike is never afraid to change course and take up a new challenge; whether it is being thrown into playing in a rugby team or leaving his old life behind to move to Africa and find love again. Watch the world as it changes around him, but, despite these changes, Mike is a man who makes every second count.
Mike Wainwright has led an interesting and varied life, not afraid to change course even when settled into an established and successful career and lifestyle. He regarded a new challenge as an opportunity to enhance his life, so this resulted in him moving from education to business and then back again. In his sixties he took up the challenge of long-distance running and climbing Kilimanjaro. He has now opted to live in a different cultural environment, moving to Kenya in 2011.
