I was kindly sent this book by Austin Macauley Publishers in exchange of an honest review. This is a beautifully illustrated story about the importance of reading books to children. I feel it will send a good message to all that read it, showing them that it costs nothing to read to your children and it's something that will bring enjoyment to all involved. I would recommend this book to anyone who has young children/grandchildren.

A beautiful, sensitive and hope-filled story about the power of reading, The Reading Promise is the new picture book release from Troy Kent. Written with care and sensitivity, he explores the love and legacy of childhood books, weaving images and words that are wholly captivating. Moving at an effortless pace which allows the reader to become fully immersed in the realities of Katherine’s circumstances it creates genuine emotional resonance that ensures every connection made is heartfelt and meaningful. The book finds its sweet spot by celebrating the transformative power of books and words. This doesn't require much in the way of definition, but is never the less masterful as it allows Kent to use the broadest of possible strokes to depict the wealth to be found in treasured pages. A wealth that is starkly contrasted to the frugal life Katherine and her son live, but allows them to explore a world that might otherwise have been closed to them. Enchanting and extremely powerful, The Reading Promise is a must add to your child’s reading shelf and it is recommended without reservation.

A tenderhearted story about a mother and son, who share a special bond by Daniel’s mother reading books to him since he was a young boy. The reader experiences the boy growing through stages in life until he becomes an adult. As an adult, Daniel becomes a father he discovers and repeats his mother’s show of love and creates his own special bond with his brand new daughter. This is a very touching story with a clever tactic to inspire children to read.
