The Covid-19 restrictions—limited number of customers at a time—will remain in place. The bookstore will be offering a free glass of locally-sourced prosecco as well. Author of our upcoming children book, The Adventure of Rex, Ali Lane will appear for an interview with the BBC Radio Gloucestershire on Saturday, 29th August 2020 at 9 o’clock in the morning. She will be accompanied by Milly, the illustrator of the book. She will discuss her upcoming book, the inspiration which prompted her to write it, her journey of becoming an author and much more. We look forward to hearing from one of our esteemed writers talk about her book. The Adventure of Rex is the story of a rabbit who gets ignored for his unusual appearance. However, his inspiring qualities make him adored by all and sundry—even more than the other ‘pretty’ rabbits. The book aspires to elevate the self-worth of children by inculcating in them values such as compassion, love, and consideration for others as opposed to conventional good looks. Ali Lane is a UK-based children’s author and an animal enthusiast residing in Cotswolds, a magnificent area of marvellous natural beauty. She’s the mother of two and lives close to nature on a lake surrounded by wildlife, greenery and her inspirational pets. The Adventure of Rex, based on the true story of an extraordinary rabbit, is her first published work.

Author of a famous Children’s book The First Tale of Sarah, Lorenzi Barnardini, will be enthusiastically participating in a fundraiser to help build Winchester Hospice. Winchester Hospice will be a team of medical caregivers, providing compassionate and professional care to up to 10 patients in their hospitals and homes. The event will take place on 24th, 25th and 26th July 2020 at the Entrance of Tesco Winnall. Lorenzo’s adorable book is about a little girl, Sarah, who is five years old and loves monsters. She has lost her voice after her mother’s death. One day, some bullies steal the book her mother had made for her and hide it in a dark, frightening place. When Sarah goes into the dark to find her book, she meets Mr. Red, one of her favourite characters from the book. She then enjoys a journey to a beautiful land with Mr. Red to find her lost voice. Lorenzo Bernardini was born in Italy in 1975 and is a self-taught artist with a passion for fantasy stories and illustration. His parents are also artists and always gave him plenty of space to develop his natural artistic ability. He studied accounting but later graduated in visual effects at Nemo Academy of Visual art in Florence. Lorenzo now lives in the UK and has returned to his true passion, hand drawing and illustration, writing his own stories and making them real. This is the first of three tales about Sarah. Lorenzo is currently working on the other two.

Penny Ellis became Christian with her whole family in 1973. After being evacuated from Cyprus, she started writing about her journey of overcoming fears. Penny graduated from London University and started a children’s theatre company.
