Garstang Library will host a book reading ceremony for James Lettice’s book ‘Long Journey to Jimbopo’. The author will read the excerpts from his eventful autobiography. This autobiography is about the author’s thrilling career and adventures that he had while he was serving in the army. He did not serve in the army for long, but his short stay was full of mischievous and amusing events. In the autobiography, readers are introduced to the talented young boy who has a particular talent - finding trouble. During his time as a ‘Bad Soldier’, he got into loads of trouble, even landing him in jail a few times. All these real-life mishaps are described by the author in a very entertaining way. After he was discharged from the army, James worked at various odd positions before finally getting a job at the magistrate's court. He turned to write later in life and eventually achieved his dream of becoming a published author at the age of 76.

Verity Craig will be at the Ryde Bookshop for the book signing event of her book ‘Ivf and Infertility, Our Journey: A True Story of One Couple's Struggle Against the Odds’. The author of ‘The Magpie’, Gary Toward will be a guest on BBC Radio Leicester on Friday, 9th November 2018. The author, Gary Toward was a teacher for the past 33 years and he taught in 6 different schools also remaining the head teacher of 3. McCaddon will speak to U3A members about his book and the inspiration behind the story.
