Amanda Jane Dearle began writing at an early age, her lurid horror stories delighting her mother with their unintentional humour. Her other great love is for music and this was encouraged by her father, a semi-pro jazz pianist. Mandy made her debut with her father’s band aged 15, and she continued singing with him until she and her husband started their family. They now have four young-adult children who tolerate Mandy’s tendency to disappear into her own world—as long as she doesn’t wake them first thing in the morning singing at the top of her voice!
