Uma was born in a Tamil-speaking town in the South of India. She migrated to Australia with her husband and three children. Her family has since grown to include five grandchildren. She adapts, extends and creates stories which nurture their imagination. Hindu mythology plays an important role in her stories. It is during one of these story-telling times that she stumbled upon the idea of writing Michael and Ganesha, combining Hindu mythology with Aussie culture to create an interesting fantasy for young adults.
