An Afternoon With Annabelle Knight

An Afternoon With Annabelle Knight

This month we caught up with our utterly talented author, Annabelle Knight, to spill the tea surrounding her hot off the rails book, Chasing Clouds. We must say, this beautiful love story has come around the perfect time of the year with Valentine's Day just around the corner. It makes a perfect gift to give to your special someone! You can buy Chasing Clouds here.

  1. What inspired you to write Chasing Clouds, and what should readers expect from the story?
  2. It’s a story of self-discovery, growth, and love. I was inspired by so many things; relationships I’ve been in, relationships I‘ve seen friends in, and all the different types of friendships I’ve ever had.

  3. How is it different from your previously published book, Endless Autumn?
  4. I stepped a little bit away from the world of erotica and more into the world of romance and chick-lit with this book. I had a lot of feedback from my first novel, with people saying they loved the friendship and romance elements of the book so that inspired me a lot to try a new style of writing.

  5. Who is your favourite character within the book and why?
  6. Carla, hands down! She’s stylish, cool and a tonne of fun. She’s a beautiful mesh of my sister and a couple of my best friends. She tells it like it is, yet is always on hand with love and support… and wine, if needed!

  7. If you could summarise your book into 3 words what would they be?
  8. Romantic, raunchy and real!

  9. What message do you aspire to give your readers with Chasing Clouds?
  10. The message of the book is about self-care, self-love and self-worth… maybe a little bit of sex, too!

  11. You wrote two amazing books. What did you learn from your writing journey?
  12. That there are never enough hours in the day if you don’t plan! I think I’ve become a more concise writer as well, I think communicating your story effectively to your readers is really important, and hopefully, that’s what I‘ve managed to do with chasing Clouds.

  13. You're an accomplished author and featured on many popular magazines, shows and programmes; what would you say is your most exciting achievement to date?
  14. Honestly… it’s passing my maths GCSE! I’m more of a creative and less of an academic and was told that I’d never pass, but I did… I was so over the moon that day, even though I got a C!

  15. Do you ever base your work on your own experiences?
  16. Elements of friendships certainly have been based on my own experience, even some of the relationship parts, too. Sometimes it’s not a personal experience that influences my writing, it can be a story I’ve heard from a friend, or sometimes it’s just something completely random that pops into my head while I’m having a bath.

  17. You've coached many celebrity couples – while counselling couples, what is the most common issue you come across?
  18. Miscommunication issues are essentially the root of most issues. Quite often, what seems to be the problem is an issue that has ‘broken the camel’s back.’ Often, there are other, far deeper issues at play.

  19. Do you have any New Year's resolutions that you've set your mind to? What do you seek from 2021?
  20. I’m currently researching and writing a TV show based on a real woman, my 2021 promise to myself is that I’ll finish it this year!

  21. You’re a certified relationship coach, what advice would you give to the couples to keep the magic alive?
  22. Talk, try new things, and teach each other what makes you tick… both inside and out of the bedroom.

  23. What advice would you give anyone who is following a similar career path?
  24. Make a productivity plan and stick to it as best you can. Don’t beat yourself up on days where you can’t, or don’t do as much as you’d like even if you only manage to write a couple of hundred words a day, it all counts! Also, celebrate any little wins along the way – you deserve it.

  25. Would you like to give any special message to your readers?
  26. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again! One of the biggest thrills you can possibly get as a writer is someone telling you they enjoyed your work, writing a novel (at least for me) is an exhausting, exciting, and wonderful process that is great in itself, but knowing your hard work has paid off is just amazing!
