World Book Day: Five Children’s Books to Gift Your Child

World Book Day: Five Children’s Books to Gift Your Child

“Without books, everything would have been crooked. Without books, the wisdom in books today would have been fairy and folk tales. Without books, the whole truth about life would have been imaginations and a guessing game.”

― Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

World Book Day is a global event celebrated all over the world. In the UK, World Book Day is celebrated on the first Thursday of March. This is a day to honour every book that has been written and read around the world.  It is a day to make sure every child and young person has a book of their own to read. Books act as a portal to a world of imagination they would have never dreamed of.

Reading a book builds vocabulary, helps develop intellect, enhances social and communication skills, and increases the ability to focus. This World Book Day, you can encourage book reading in your child, by building a reading corner right at your home. It is not as hard as you think it might be. We’ve shared steps for you to build a reading corner of your own to get started!

Steps to Build a Reading Corner

  1. Pick a place which is comfortable and cosy.

  2. Decorate the place with arts and craft. Adding a pillow or comfy blanket would be a good idea.

  3. Set a small bookshelf nearby and make sure the place is well-lit.

  4. Enjoy a good book with your child. This could go a long way in developing regular reading habits for years to come.

Austin Macauley Publishers presents you a list of 5 books you could gift your child on this World Book Day for their reading corner. Every children’s book in this list is special in its own way!
