It’s Christmas time, the most magical time of the year, but Rupert was feeling a bit sad this year because he wasn’t able to be with his friends. The one thing he wished for was to have a friend at Christmas. Sometimes wishes do come true…Australian author and illustrator Ru Davidson’s beautiful, simple story of the magic of friendship warms every heart at any time of the year.
After a strong interest in art through her school years, Ru then went on to have a successful career in music and teaching. In 2014 she began painting and sketching again, and it soon became her full-time obsession, with many works exhibited and sold.
During lockdowns in Melbourne in 2020, Ruth posted a series of fun sketches on her local Facebook page to entertain the kids. The reaction was very positive with many readers encouraging her to put these into book form. Several books have resulted in A Friend for Christmas being the first to be published.
