Cyril Squirrel is tasked with the responsibility of a very important job. Unfortunately, in his overexcitement, Cyril ignores some very valuable advice and finds himself feeling extremely worried indeed. How will he get the job done? Will anyone want to help him? Cyril Squirrel and the Wonderfully Worrisome Task is an enchanting and emotive children's book that tackles an everyday problem to which all children will relate.
Matthew A. Scott is an author who lives in sunny Southsea, Portsmouth, on the south coast of England, with his wife and two cats. As an avid gardener and a lover of all animals, he has always been interested in nature and the outdoors. These attributes, along with fond memories of feeding nuts to squirrels with his mother as a young boy, led to the creation of his first children's book character, Cyril Squirrel.

  • A great book with lovely illustrations such as fun to find all the little characters hiding amongst the trees and plants! Also, love it how the author has used wording that doesn’t ‘dumb it down’ for kids. This is one that will be read again and again!

This is a lovely book. It sends such a nice message when you are feeling overwhelmed, reach out and help will be there. And I love that feeling overwhelmed and anxious are put forward as natural feelings, children will feel comforted by that.

This is a beautifully written book that both my husband and I enjoy reading to our boys and that they both love to hear. A simple tale that teaches us that when the world appears a daunting place, we must have the courage to ask for help.

I bought the book for my daughter following a recommendation from a friend. We sat on our sofa and read it together, as an 8-year-old she thoroughly enjoyed both the story and the illustration. I would highly recommend the story to all children and we look forward to the next story from Cyril, there should be a sequel.

  • The Hale Family

One of our favourite bedtime stories. Our son loves the characters in this book, a sweet story with lovely artwork and a great message for young minds. My son loves the characters and cant wait to read Cyril's next adventure!!

Wonderful kids story, great relatable characters, and most importantly teaching kids something important too, "it's ok to ask"! Well done Matt, can't wait for the next book.

A lovely little book-wise words that teach children an important lesson about having the confidence to ask for help. I also love how the pictures include lots of well-dressed little creatures hiding amongst the scenery!
