Doctor Penguin works in the emergency department at Hopscotch Childrens Hospital. He treats all the towns sick and unwell children that need his help. This time, a young dog called George has hurt his eye! Dr Penguin knows who can lend a hand: Dr Owl the eye doctor (ophthalmologist). They treat George together using Dr Owls special tools and medicine and make sure he is safe to head home happy. Dr Penguins son Peter has a surprise for him when he returns home after his shift.

Dr Alistair Lock is a training radiologist, who practices medicine in New Zealand. He created the Dr Penguin picture books to teach children about medicine and the hospital environment, in a fun way that reduces fears and inspires imagination. He is supported by his loving wife Ann and son Lucas.


Dr Barney Rathnayaka is a budding anaesthetist training in New Zealand. Having illustrated all his life, he started his career as a freelance artist during medical school and hasn't stopped since.
