In the undergrowth of the Australian bush, well hidden, live eight different tribes of fairies. Like the fairies of other lands, they have survived for millennia. The role of these elusive creatures is to keep the balance of nature, protecting the flowers that seed our planet. Fairies are peaceful creatures who understand the precious value of plants. They are themselves vegetarians, and do not hurt or eat other living creatures.

Each tribe of fairies has its own magical abilities. Pearl fairies can sing melody spells. Fire fairies throw sparks and must learn as youngsters to control fire. Shadow fairies are incredibly fast.

This story follows the lives of a family of fairies whose fortunes suddenly change, forcing them to become leaders in their Kingdom. Fairy potions and spells combine with love, courage and loyalty to guide the fairies to their destiny as not only protectors of nature but of the entire fairy Kingdom. Together, this fairy family must combine their talents to face an evil enemy. They must adapt and fight for their very survival.

Alice’s childhood was filled with adventure and fantasy. Alice was born into a musical family in South Africa and travelled between England, Scotland and the countryside of Europe in her childhood, finally settling down in her much-loved Australia. Formally trained as an occupational therapist, she used puppetry and drama in therapy with disadvantaged children.

Later training as a speech and drama teacher, Alice ran an award-winning studio. Always at home on the stage, whether acting, singing or public speaking, she took her passion for art and writing to greater heights in retirement. Alice’s vivid imagination and storytelling flair triumph in the first instalment of the fantasy adventure series, Downunder.
