Game Breaker is a fast-moving political and adventure thriller by first-time New Zealand author David Young that takes the reader on zany escapades set in exotic South Pacific locations. Young deftly keeps the action moving and holds the reader’s attention as the reader is led through everything from our heroes' eclectic nude chase around a Pacific island to the inevitable intrigue of nefarious politics in the White House. The plot flicks about with easy abandon as Young builds interpersonal relationships between the protagonist , his love interest, and his adventurous kids—and the bad guys. The action borders on the surreal at times, and Young could be more descriptive to flesh out some sequences and characters, but this is a small price to pay for a rip-roaring yarn set against the sultry backdrop of romantic South Pacific islands. This is a highly commendable novel that, I’m sure, is a forerunner of more adventures from David Young in the grand tradition of the Jason Bourne and Die Hard movies of recent years.
First time novelist David Young tells a fast paced action adventure story of family, political skulduggery, and high adventure. From the islands of Fiji, to the West Coast Shores of New Zealand and all the way to Washington DC and an entertaining flight over the Atlantic Ocean, the story keeps you wondering how it will all end. A good fun romping read.
