When George, the orangutan, discovers his rainforest is being destroyed, he is very, very angry. With encouragement from many of the smaller animals whose homes have been destroyed, George starts on an adventure to save the rainforest with the help of Grace, the clouded leopard, Sleepy, the mystical binturong, General Aman, and many other animals at the Wildlife Centre--animal power versus man and machine.
Lyn Pendle has a passion for orangutans and travelling. After retiring from teaching, she decided to have a gap experience (old people can have them as well) and went to Sarawak to work with Project Orangutan. There she experienced firsthand the range of animals affected by the loss of their rainforest homes. On returning home, she decided to write a fun story to engage with younger readers; so they could understand the problems of deforestation and the effect it has on wild life.

I have the greatest pleasure of calling Lyn a friend and someone I have worked with over the years at our many visits to Matang. Reading this book with all the wonderful characters and animals we both love and treasure is such a treat. And to know that others get to share their stories and understand the predicament that these amazing creatures face is so very important. This book is such a brilliant way for our younger generation to learn about the situation in Borneo. Everyone should have a George in their lives.

A marvellous book that evokes all the sites and sounds of the beautiful rainforests of Borneo. A lovely story of hope accompanied by wonderful illustrations. This is a great introduction for any child to the themes of nature, ecology and protecting our precious environment. And it confirms the theory that these magnificent great apes have an intelligence that is not only on a par with humans, but it is also far superior. The animals are written and drawn with such vivid clarity that I can almost believe that they really do exist. Well done George. And well done Lyn!

This book is wonderful. Such gorgeous artwork that really brings the rainforest to life, as well as the super characters of course! Lyn's passion for the conservation of these animals shines through the pages, and she has created a book that will be enjoyed by all who pick it up.

A wonderful way of introducing our children to the responsibility of looking after the planet, especially the ever-decreasing rain forests. Throughout the story, you are wanting George to desperately succeed. His band of comrades, using their guile and talents, manage to stop the humans in their tracks, but for how long!
Beautifully written, the characters of the story engage your sympathy. The ending so clever, with video evidence of their actions.

Well done Lyn - I can't wait for your next endeavour!
