Gijima is a newly-hatched baby tortoise. One day, he decides he would like to leave the safety of the tortoise sanctuary, where he lives with his mother and siblings, and take a trip to see the world. He soon discovers that the life of a tortoise has many dangers. He must learn new lessons to avoid being harmed and captured. In the end, he makes a friend and they travel together helping other animals.

Gijima is a fun children's book that calls on us to protect and love animals. At the same time, we can also gain kindness, loyalty and tolerance. I believe it will be of great benefit to children.

Gijima is an excellent children's book with articulate writting and ease of understanding for children. Highly educational about the African Tortoise and it highlights an importance for it's preservation. It also teaches young children that freedom from their home nest at a young age is not always a safe or great idea. Highly recommend for the book to be inserted into the Foundation and Junior School Education phase throughout the world. Lorna did meticulous research work and a great job with her respective team in its compilation.

Gijima is the enchanting adventures of a little tortoise who ventures far from home, as most children do eventually. With a few challenges that he has to overcome to keep him moving forward. Making new friends. Some good and some not so good. Needless to say shaping his adventures with insightful and wise solutions. And bravery overcoming obstacles. And giving the story a emotionally healthy approach. A fun adventure that keeps you turning the pages to see what befalls Gijima next.
