When Abel Sawyer is framed for murder by Chicago’s biggest and most ruthless gang, the Gods Among Kings, Rory Scott and the other bartenders at Ethel’s, a dive bar for dropouts and misfits, are thrown into a world of depts, crime, secrets, violence, passion and hitmen, as they fight to prove the innocence of their friend. But the more secrets Rory and her friends reveal, the more lies are created. They soon come to realise that enemies can be friends, friends can be family, and family can be enemies…

Fae Ainslie grew up in the Northeast of England with her parents and two siblings. When Fae isn’t reading or writing gang novels, she is studying biomedical science at university. At age 20, Fae was diagnosed with dyslexia and dyspraxia, and the diagnosis only pushed Fae even further to finish her first novel, Gods Among Kings, striving to shatter the stereotypes of neurodivergent people.

I have really enjoyed being in this world! Such a great book.

I highly recommend if you like :-
    - Strong character development, characters you will love and some you will hate. Some you will question and be unsure off!
    - Lots of morally grey characters and questionable decisions
    - I particularly loved Rory! Such a tough cookie but with a soft heart. She made some decisions I wasn't always sure about, but I understood why she did what she did. I found her back story with her father so emotional.
    - Found family and Brotherhood. Some characters are actual siblings, but some love and protect eachother like they are. Also some unlikely friendships.
    - Bit of romance and Lgbt characters.
    - Gang stories. I don't read or watch alot like this but maybe I should! I think you'd favour this story if you liked The Peaky Blinders!
    - Funny and lighthearted moments alongside some brutal moments!!!
    - Twists and turns, some shocking and unexpected moments, some really emotional moments!!
    - Overall a thrilling storyline with lots going on, some more chills moments but never boring because you feel like these characters are your friends and you want to be with them and hope they'll okay in these dangerous situations.
    - Third person so multiple POVS which always makes a story a bit more gripping for me!

Completely blown away by the ending! Would totally read a book 2 if there is one.
