In How the Soul Writes Sebastian Melmoth explores a myriad of themes—human emotions and relationships, home and the natural world, loss and bereavement, objects of everyday life and the joy of family life—with resonant elegance and honesty.

This collection of short poems written in the aftermath of his mother’s death insightfully capture the working of the human mind with raw emotions and conveys a message of hope with much conviction. Melmoth illuminates the mundanities of life through philosophical ruminations, employing powerful metaphors and evocative figurative language. His musings and character, along with the beauty of imagery, prompt one to combat despair and sustain hope.

Sebastian Melmoth was born on 5th March 1976 in Staffordshire. He has a vast experience of working with in local communities with high levels of deprivation and draws on some of his experience of seeing the hardships of life. His writing inspiration came recently following the death of his mother and the outpouring of emotions and feelings has helped him with his mental health and bereavement but also have meant that Sebastian has developed a passion for writing which he hasn’t stopped since picking up the pen.

In 2019, Sebastian published his first Poetry Chapbook entitled As the Soul Writes as part of a series of books he hopes will resonate with readers and provide messages of hope. Each poem that is written comes from the soul of the writer and takes on many poetic and artistic forms.

Sebastian has also recently been getting out and about to read his poetry to audiences such as The Big Comfy Bookstore in Coventry as well as entering competitions to raise the profile of his works.
