Louisa is 15 and living a contented, happy life in London. The Second World War is threatening their peace of mind. Will they all have the strength to survive?

Jacqueline Carpenter is from Essex and is married with a grown-up son and daughter. These days she spends a lot of her time in Spain, where she adores the weather, the delicious healthy food and gorgeous people.

Her favourite pastimes are walking along the beach, chatting and dancing (badly!).

  • Great story , couldnt put the book down.

What a wonderful story set in the 2nd World War. Tells the story of how women coped whilst the men were at war. The story really flows and I just couldn’t put the book down. A great debut from Jacqueline Carpenter. Can’t wait for the next book to be published.

Fantastically written debut novel. The characters are very believable and likeable and their stories really draw you into their lives. Historically accurate and hard to put down. I can't wait for the sequel.

From the moment I started reading this lovely book, I was hooked. Louisa is a great character who is a strong yet vulnerable lady with a heart of gold. I can’t wait for book number two. Well done Jacqueline carpenter and hurry up, please.
