Diane Catchpole nee Macdonald was born in Dunfermline, Scotland, in 1941. Her mother died in 1944. Brought up by English grandparents, Diane went on a two-year family visit to Africa in 1947. She got married in 1961 and spent two years in Malta. With her second husband, she moved to Suffolk and had three children. Her writing consists of a book called Diane Who?, which is not published. She joined a friendly scribbler’s group but found that the genre of fantasy was not for her—ordinary life was rich enough. And so she embarked on a voyage of discovery.
