Pig is a Newfoundland that creates havoc when he goes to the snow. The story is told by a little boy called Sam, who leaves out many of the details because he only sees the positives in his lovable pet. The illustrator is left to fill us in with the real story of destruction. Sam’s mother is very embarrassed about the mayhem created by her dog called Pig. She is a single mum who is trying to keep things together with her small family but unfortunately has little control over their large dog. The journey begins as the family and their dog head to the snow fields. It’s been a big day of trouble for Mum, but Sam and Pig had a ball!

Debra Douglas is a single mother and has no publishing history. She has worked with children all her life. After many years teaching young children, she opened a child-care centre which she has had for the past twenty years.

She is well aware of the love young children have for humour in print.

She knows how much children love to see the disasters that animals create for their owners but understand that we all still love our pets unconditionally.
