One Friday afternoon, Steve and Mark Cross head off on an adventurous father and son weekend in the Australian bush. The long drive provides plenty of time to shake off the weekday woes, have a few laughs and soak up the rugged landscape. In the early hours of the morning, as they near their destination in a remote part of the country, through the endless darkness of the ‘night highway’, they notice a dull light on the road up ahead.

As they get closer to the light, it becomes painfully apparent that something is not right. What unfolds from that point will see Steve, Mark and others, encounter a group of locals who subject them to sinister and relentless demands, over and over. If they are to survive, they’ll need to push themselves beyond all physical, mental and emotional boundaries. Either way, life will never be the same.

Allen Coskerie lives on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, where he loves to get his family out on their little boat and enjoy the sparkling waterways. When he’s not out on the water or doing the hard grind at his day job as a management consultant, he’ll be drawing on his youthful misadventures with his brother and mates to conjure up ideas for his next book.

Make no mistake - this book is disturbing.
If you've ever travelled out west, you'll realise this could be an entirely authentic scenario.
I was hooked after the first page!
The contradiction of a simple, childish personality, yet a man prone to extreme violence, is unsettling.
You have to wonder about the sanity of an author who 'makes up' such characters - I'm not sure where they come from, but I hope never to meet them.

I thoroughly recommend this as a great read.

This story weaves an intriguing web of ideas, morals and gruesome violence.
I found I kept wanting to read on, but I didn't want to finish it.
It takes you to a scary place and you try to think what you'd do in that situation.
With the sickos in the cities these days, and these whackos out west, it's probably safest to stay home and read a good book.
Read this one - you'll get your fix of cray cray, and may lose some sleep, but it won't kill you.

I could not put this book down and was hooked from the opening line. You will get so invested in the characters and may even find yourself feeling sorry for one of the bad guys! This unique story had me constantly on the edge of my seat. As the point of view switches between characters throughout, I became invested in each person’s individual journey and constantly wondered how it would culminate. You will not be disappointed with the ending. I’m already looking forward to reading more from Allen, he is clearly a very talented author!

Night Highway is a unique story that will cause you to always remember to lock your doors when you take a drive along a deserted road.
