Niles is a young kitten who, along with his mother and sister, are abandoned to fend for themselves in a big city neighbourhood. Distrustful and afraid, they are captured by a human rescue organization and are taken to their facility. The kind staff wins over their trust and prepares them for adoption into their perfect home. Along the way, Niles learns some important life lessons about love and friendship, the consequences of being adventurous and the importance of always being charming.

Dr. Sue Kruske is a retired small animal veterinarian and first time author. She and her husband, Tom, who is also a veterinarian, live in a small midwestern city with their dog and 2 cats, one of whom is Niles. They have 2 young adult daughters who are both wonderful pet parents of adopted rescue cats. Dr. Sue enjoys traveling, hiking and gardening along with caring for creatures of all kinds including raising Monarch butterflies. Dr. Sue volunteers in a second grade classroom weekly during reading and writing class and was inspired to write this story after observing the joy and enthusiasm of the children, who especially love animal stories.
