This memoir recounts a journey undertaken during an era marked by innocence and naivety, yet brimming with excitement. It was a time when one could traverse from Europe to Asia entirely by land, savouring the gradual shift in cultures and landscapes, a feat that has become increasingly challenging in today’s world. This travelogue reflects on a privileged experience, one for which the author remains deeply grateful, having witnessed these diverse regions and cultures first-hand.

Valerie Dignam was born and grew up in Dublin, Ireland. She moved to Jersey when she was 19 years old and soon discovered it would make a perfect base for her many journeys. It was here she developed the travel bug. She now lives back in Ireland in County Wicklow with her husband. This is her first book.

I really enjoyed this book and could easily have read an extra hundred pages. It's a very well told story with the original photos which made it so authentic and made me envious that I never made that journey. Well done.

This book is very well written, with a brilliant insight into the travels of a young couple and their adventures along the way. It is a delightful read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
