Touching the essence of the amazing journey of life...

The job of the poet is to capture that essence in a condensed form, to make sense of the incomprehensible through words that convey emotion. Theirs is not the job of definition but rather of substance. Here, within these pages, is a collection of poems that does exactly that.

Spanning the gamut of the human experience with breadth and intimacy, Vijay Mehra’s latest work is a breathtaking voyage into the heart of the amazing passage called life. From friendship, betrayal, love and sex to travel, a higher power, and finding the true nature of the self, his passionate and profound meditation on our collective and individual journeys sheds light on questions that touch us all. Neither an answer to life’s questions nor a guide to living, it is rather an insightful foray to acknowledge and understand the symbiotic relationship between reason, emotion, and the needs of the soul.

Vijay Mehra worked as a management consultant, senior executive, and CIO in five countries over the course of three decades. His debut novel The Journey...and the Voice, the Signal and the Noise received positive reviews from Kirkus and Foreword Reviews.

  • Brilliant little compilation this!

Inspiring read...I enjoyed reading the ones on Life, optimism (Half-Full), and mentorship (Da Chief). The para on Luke Skywalker and Yoda is superb. And so true.

Mehra uses some old, outdated words from the English language at times...not sure why.

Overall I feel uplifted as I read these poems - and I have read several of them over and over again.

    Brilliant little compilation of this.

Nice...I liked it. Especially the one on travel, now that we are all traveling after Covid.

He writes so openly about S#x. I am a bit conservative, not sure I liked that one...perhaps others will.

On Friendship, I loved the lines below (they brought a few tears of joy to my eyes as I reflected on the handful of deep friendships my life has been blessed with)

    "No, it's not about money,
    Nor fame nor power.
    The journey of life
    Is lived each passing hour.

    More is not better,
Nor do the toys really count.
Ask the joyful ones what wings their flight,
And they will point you to friendship's might."
