Mickey the Monkey is bored. He doesn’t like to sing or dance, and he’s tired of hanging around the same old oak tree. But when his best friend, Jerry the Giraffe, suggests a road trip to the new Ravenous Rhinos restaurant, Mickey is all in.

The two friends set off on their adventure, but it’s not long before they get lost in the dark jungle. They encounter Leo the Lion, who claims to be a vegetarian, and the three of them continue on their journey together. Will they ever make it to Ravenous Rhinos? And what kind of trouble will they get into along the way?

Darren Mackey was born in the Cathedral city of Armagh in 1973. He has lived with his wife Sharon and their three children, Conchur, Niamh and Caoimhin in the picturesque village of Benburb for the last twenty years. An avid music and football fan, he began his writing career at the ripe old age of forty and after considerable setbacks his first book The Jolly Giraffe was published in 2024. He is now currently working on the much anticipated follow up, a work entitled The Glows, which should be completed and published sometime in 2025.

Fantastic wee book my 7 year old son loved it. We read it together. Very colourful and illustrations or beautiful. The wee giraffes or cute in each corner.

Brilliant Children story. Has everything's kids love in a book. Great illustrations great opening an fantastic ending. Hopefully there will be more to come from the Jolly Giraffe. Very well written.

Really, really well-written children’s book! Ideal for a child of any age! The print is also very high quality and you can really tell the author has put a lot of heart and effort into crafting an engaging story line that matches the colourful illustrations!

A brilliant children’s book. I was amazed how interesting it was with fantastic illustrations. I applaud the author and will buy it in hard back plus the next book is out next year. Please buy this book for your children. I think it’s for age 8 and upwards. X

Fantastic book for the children. Got this for my kids ages 12 to 6 which they all have read and loved. Couldn't resist and read this book myself. The story and illustrations are just perfect. You can tell alot of heart and effort has went into this. A must buy family book. And the wee message from the author to his dad beautiful.
