Although only fiction, The Two Little Birds has reached into the past for my present family members. Our father and grandfather were members of Creforce that fought German forces in Crete and North Africa. While in North Africa, he was badly wounded and transferred back to New Zealand to spend 3 years, hospitalised with shrapnel wounds. During this time, he met and married Dorothy Barrett, one of the nurses who was tending him. His adult children and grandchildren have all read The Two Little Birds manuscript and have taken the superb story line into their hearts in remembrance of the other brave men and women who fought the fascist tyranny of the German and Italian forces. A truly great read.

An intriguing title that plays a small but significant role in the book. The compelling storyline rolls through the twists, turns and abrupt surprises as it follows Italian Partisans fighting alongside New Zealand soldiers to turn the tide of Fascist aggression. The target audience I believe suits a mature reader. I highly recommend The Two Little Birds . The best book I have read and the hardest to put down
