A young man, whose thoughts and desires lie beyond his time and place in the world. Someone set apart from the start. A hopeless case, as far as his people are concerned.

And then, suddenly, he acts upon a stroke of good fortune: the opportunity for a new name, a new identity. The life he has always craved.
