Emily Rice grew up in the same village as the first witch to be executed in England, Agnes Waterhouse. After researching the local witch, Emily became fascinated in history, and her history teachers encouraged an interest in female historical figures. So, with the help of her research and analytical skills gained from her studying at the University of York, Emily spent the 2020 Lockdown writing her first book, Women Forgotten in History. This was to shed some light on the fascinating lives of lesser-known women in history.
Loved reading this book and learned so much about women across the globe who I would never have heard about otherwise
A fascinating and well written collection of short biographies of women whose stories have become obscured by history. The biographies span a range of cultures and eras and are each one uniquely interesting. Chapters are short and the writing style is very readable. It's a perfect book for anyone with an interest in history, but moreso the varied nature of the stories it tells will capture and inspire many imaginations.
