Author Derrick E. Brown is collaborating with the Computer Conservation Society to host a virtual presentation to explore the birth of the barcode in the early seventies. Brown was born during the Second World War in London. Most of his childhood was spent near the Essex coast. He studied mechanical engineering and worked as an engineer before starting up his own training business in Melbourne, Australia. He is now retired and spends time backpacking and adventuring.
