Garstang Library will be hosting a book reading ceremony for James Lettice’s book ‘Long Journey to Jimbopo’. The author will read the excerpts from his eventful autobiography. The author also plans to have a talk with the readers as they will be introduced to a trouble finding the boy.
This autobiography is about the author’s thrilling career and adventures that he had while he was serving in the army. He did not serve in the army for long, but his short stay was full of mischievous and amusing events.
In the autobiography, readers are introduced to the talented young boy who has a particular talent - finding trouble. During his time as a ‘Bad Soldier’, he got into loads of trouble, even landing him in jail a few times. All these real-life mishaps are described by the author in a very entertaining way.
After he was discharged from the army, James worked at various odd positions before finally getting a job at the magistrate's court. He turned to write later in life and eventually achieved his dream of becoming a published author at the age of 76.
