The book revolves around a brave military dog Beauregard, who dutifully alerts his team about an incoming attack but is ignored. The unit suffers a fatal attack, only the dog survives. He finds his way to a military officer who understands the importance of having military dogs in the service. The book pays tribute to all military service dogs and shows how dangerous their jobs are and how admirably they perform it.
