Hoodwink

Simon Davis, the PM for the Peoples Unite Party, was confident that in the next election, on 7 May 2015, he would be staying in 10 Downing Street behind the black door. But with the train crash into Waterloo Station and the PM being stretchered off, it was not until he reached the hospital for treatment that his panic kicked in—he had left his parliamentary red case on the crashed train.

The PM was not aware that young Rob Hat had crawled into the first-class carriage to witness the benefits it had to offer. This was when Rob Hat noticed the red parliamentary case. He never knew at this juncture what the contents in this red case were. Later on, when discovery of its contents was to become public knowledge, one could be assured PM Simon Davis would be wanting to kick all his earlier confidence into the long grass.

A little later in the same week, the notorious criminal Trevor Charles Baines was put to rest at Honour Oak Cemetery in South London. With his death, the millions he had stolen died along with him.

It was not until Rob was in the Kilimanjaro region, helping his uncle with his tourism business that also helped the less fortunate children, that he found Baines was out on a jolly, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Even with the disguise, Baines’s unique tattoo gave him away.

Joint Enterprise

Jupiter

The story of Isaac Marcu Moritz and the great affliction of his childhood caused by a lightning bolt launched by Jupiter, god of the sky, the father of gods and men, and the patron of Rome. 

The bolt kills his aged mentor whose knowledge of history and languages is transferred to the traumatised mind of the boy. He is plagued throughout his life by visions and torment of Rome’s ancient rulers and gods.

Growing up on the family farm his skill in the capture of flies by hand learned by watching his grandmother’s action while at the packing table leads to success in rural land sales and a posting in a university entomology research program of hand-fly-capture. He establishes Snap-Zap-Solutions with the aim of eradicating the pestilence to improve the human condition.

Will he ever understand himself enough to empathise or forever live in abeyance wondering who or what is really driving his life?

Kertamen

A front-line game of cat and mouse between cops as tough and cunning as the conspirators – a murderous, satanic cabal intent on influencing the 2014 Scottish referendum. Kertamen is a fast-paced thriller involving recurrent darkness, some moral dilemma and portal-stepping into Jerusalem in 30 AD, seen primarily through the eyes of Detective Inspector Chuck Kean of the Drug Squad. Kean is running a deniable investigation into a masonic cabal among the Edinburgh establishment, who are allegedly linked to child abuse. Martone resurrects the political climate, passions and concerns of the voters, whilst cannily revealing a conspiracy, akin to that of Dallas in 1963, lurking within the shadows. Connections to the oil and the arms industries, whose peripheral strategies are somehow aligned with the cabal, develop while Kean discovers that he is involved in an age-old supernatural struggle between seraphs and fallen angels. One angel – Dai, mentors Kean in what develops into his own moral quest, after revealing to him that the referendum, along with other events around the globe, are all the chess games of the divine.

Man With A Gun

That the gun was kept in a drawer of the old Singer sewing machine was never a secret; although, when his father died, its significance as a reminder of the old man’s mysterious occupation was quickly overshadowed by the discovery of a fortune in banknotes in the loft.

There was, too, the emergence of some alarming connections with an extreme nationalist organisation. And if all that wasn’t enough to disrupt his quiet existence, the presence of dognappers in the village presented a more immediate cause for concern than how to deal with an unexpected legacy, although the inherited gun would come in handy there.

Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Watch is based on family dynamics and lifelong repercussions of decisions and actions made in youthful haste. Self-preservation and maintaining a good public image are strong motives throughout the book. Such incentives can lead even the most upstanding people to deception and reveal a darker side, if only to themselves.

Although the main characters differ greatly, they are all linked by events from the past. Neighbourhood Watch explores the danger of putting misplaced trust into institutions or their representatives, for this trust can be manipulated and used to the advantage of those it is placed in. Within the story, there is a heavy focus on the humanity of people and how they deal with a set of circumstances they may have no control over. There is an underlying current that is deconstructed – that a confident woman is seen as almost arrogant and untrustworthy, and is not to be given the benefit of the doubt.
