Author Raya Klinbail attends a Special Radio Interview on SBS Australia
Author of the acclaimed novel The Flight of the Swallows Raya Klinbail was invited to attend a special radio interview on SBS about her book. In the interview, the author talks about her life in Kazakhstan and Russia and the significance of the title Flight of the Swallows which depicts the escape of Rosa and Dan – the characters from the novel, from the Holocaust. SBS is a national public television and radio network in Australia with a wide audience.
The story Flight of the Swallows is set in the twentieth century, the author has beautifully written the novel with elements of all the political disturbances and wars of the time. The story is really dramatic with tales of love, courage, human experiences and the quest for redemption. Flight of the Swallows follows the account of young lovers Rosa and Dan who escape the holocaust from Nazi-occupied Poland and venture into Russia, and later the story follows their daughter Nina and her perilous journey across central Asia.
Author Raya Klinbail is a family physician basically from Kazakhstan. Raya has lived through the bloody pages of history. In her early years in Kazakhstan, her parents were offered a price for her as a bride from a Kazakh clan. Her brave parents resisted and denied the inhumane offer and went to Poland. Raya witnessed the Communist propaganda for years until she and her family went to Australia. It was in Australia where Raya began exploring her intellect.
