Jackie McIntosh, a 75-year-old debut author, was recently featured in an article by Phil Hewitt at Sussex Newspapers. The piece highlights her journey to publishing The Price of Love, her passion for modern history, and the themes she explored in her novel. Jackie discusses how she incorporated topics like racism, same-sex marriage, and child neglect, along with her personal connection to history—having written a biography of her grandfather, a World War I veteran who later worked for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

The Price of Love spans a century, tracing the lifelong friendship of Dolly and Polly, two inseparable souls from a small Kent village. Jackie McIntosh is retired and lives in Sussex with her husband, Bill. After years in sales and retail, she finally found time to write during lockdown. She has two children and five grandchildren and enjoys visiting Sussex and Derby to spend time with family.
