Joseph Johnson was invited by Wombrook Court, a retirement home in the West Midlands, to read from his poetry book, A Book of Birds and Verse for Young and Old. He was well received by the audience and received some valuable insight into his poetry from the audience. While Johnson was reading, a slideshow played in the background depicting illustrations of birds from his book.

His talent for writing lyrics turned into writing poetry, and his love for oil painting helped create some beautiful illustrations for his book.
