Leopy’s Tale Unites Cultures and Languages
Mike Gibson’s children’s story, Leopy Goes Looking for His Spots, was celebrated in a multilingual event in Höchstadt, featuring readings in English, German, and Ukrainian. The initiative aimed to help Ukrainian refugee families adapt to life in Germany by fostering language development and cultural understanding. Led by teacher Vira Riy and students from the Ukrainian Saturday School in Erlangen, the event showcased the power of storytelling in bridging communities.
The bilingual readings allowed children and adults to improve their German while enjoying the charming tale of Leopy, a baby leopard searching for his spots. The story’s themes of perseverance, kindness, and friendship provided comfort to families affected by war, creating a meaningful and joyful experience.
Mike Gibson, a retired computer systems designer, brings warmth and creativity to his stories. Through Leopy, he highlights the importance of connection, resilience, and the magic of storytelling in supporting displaced families and fostering hope.
