He wants to pursue teaching and tries to apply for jobs at local educational institutions. He is unsuccessful in getting employed, and his relationship with his girlfriend ends, causing him great grief. He takes up a job at a local factory, and things start to look up when he receives the opportunity to teach at a local school. He is a great teacher and enjoys his job. Just when things are looking up, another turn occurs, which takes Tony down a road of difficulties.
A Year of the Teacher is Steve Logston’s first fictional novel. His previous novel, Even Her Tears Were Yellow, was a non-fiction piece of work that centred on the death of Steve’s stepdaughter who died after a liver transplant in 2013. Steve grew up in Chester, West Virginia and has a Master's degree in Education. His love of music and experience with teaching greatly helped him write A Year of the Teacher.
