Trentham Neighbourhood Centre hosts Book Launch/Signing of ‘The Boardsword and the Englishman’
The book launching and signing event for R.G. Harmon’s for ‘The Broadsword and the Englishman’. The author was present at the launch event and talked about the book and his inspiration behind writing such a book.
The book is a historical fiction which is based on the story of the protagonist, Bill, a guy from a middle-class English family in China who lived through the Sino-Japanese war and who later on joins the war effort as a teenager. He goes down to the coal mines of Wales and later on went to Australia to start afresh.
But Bill is haunted by the memories from the past and the follow up of the events that later on shape his life in a really unexpected manner.
Bill is forced to face his fears by revisiting the places of his childhood which brought the haunted memories from the war but he eventually faces his demons and there he farewells a good friend who leaves him with a symbol of peace and strength for a lifetime to last.
Rod. G.Harmon was born in 1958 in Geelong, Australia and he is the youngest of his five siblings.
After serving for seven years in the Australian Army as an officer he entered the private enterprise. He and his wife took a career change after their kids got settled. He now lives in Victoria where he has just begun has just begun to write and establish himself as an author.
