After a 30-year career, Anne and her husband, Roberto, retire to a beautiful flat on the Italian Riviera. With most of the surrounding flats being holiday homes and left empty for a large part of the year, the area should be peaceful and serene. Except that it isn't.Anne and Roberto's presence upsets the balance of power in the area, and they are left to the mercy of their racist, violent and corrupt neighbours. When the couple are savagely attacked on their doorstep, a chain of events is set in motion that leads Anne to uncover just how flawed the Italian justice system is.

The author was born in Birmingham in L945 and spent some time in the Channel lslands with her mother's family where she met her ltalian husband. When her husband wanted to return to his homeland the family went to live in ltaly in January 1970. After working for the UN agency FAO in Rome for 4 years the author decided to move to Belgium for better work prospects. Both the author and her husband worked in Belgium until 2006 when they decided to retire to the Western Ligurian area of ltaly, where the climate suited them, especially the mild sunny winters. She now lives in Spain.

The author is fluent in English, French and ltalian and speaks a little Spanish. With her husband she has travelled around Europe, visited Argentina, Uruguay, South Africa and the USA. She has not written any previous books but, after collecting material for possible future works, is considering a commitment to write another book about ltaly and in particular about the southern Lazio region, in the period leading up to, during and subsequent to WW2 and the plight of the people in that region.
