Beautiful words throughout about growing up and encouraging them to be the best they can be whilst not forgetting that you are there for a cuddle when they need it the most!
Sweet Little Cub by K. S. D’arcy is a most beautiful book for the under-fives. It is written in rhyme with just four lines to each verse. There is a wonderful sing-song rhythm to each verse that bounces along, even when I read it in my head.
Each verse presents the reader with a choice – do you want to do this? Or that? This provides talking points with our children as they learn that life can be a series of choices.
The whole book is most beautifully illustrated by Zenja Gammer. They say that the eyes are the window to the soul – the little tiger cub certainly draws you in with his big, expressive eyes.
In contrast to the tiger, we see the smallest of insects on each page. The illustrations take in the finest of details – I love the penultimate illustration of the tiger whose tongue is protruding as he gets ready for sleep. This shows his contentment with life.
Sweet Little Cub is simply beautiful. It is a book that will delight both children and adults. Grab yourself a copy today and sink into the eyes of the little cub.
A beautiful, poetic rhyming book, with the most stunning illustrations that look almost like photos (I thought they were at first). It runs through a series of questions to the tiger cub, about where it sees itself in life and what wishes it would choose. It seems quite a deep book - contemplative and calming and definitely one of the most beautifully illustrated books that I’ve seen.
I am truly amazed by the details the illustrations show, they make you connect with the story. The story itself is so meaningful, showing us in life we are going to be faced with choices daily and it helps to reflect on the choices we made. Sweet Little Cub is a great book for kids.
