The Big Dead Dry is an intoxicating crime thriller. It follows the story of Raquel and Steve. They move into the town of Brumby Flat in the middle of a drought. The place is notorious for crime, murder, and accidental deaths. After the death of a mysterious man, a city-based detective comes to the crime scene and tries to solve the case. He has quite a few quirky characters to get information from and amongst them is the serial killer hiding in plain sight. Portia Stanton-Noble lives in Australia. She always dreamed of becoming a writer. Portia has had experience in the telecommunications field as well as the retail sector. The Big Dead Dry is her debut, and she already has planned out and written a sequel.

She has always loved to write, but she wasn’t be able to start unless the year 2020 arrived. The lockdown allowed her the opportunity to settle down and write. It is also a view from the author as to what it truly means to be gay. The struggle these people have to face from bullying, discrimination and even lost self-esteem has very well been highlighted in this book. Linda D. Rhodes is a Melbourne born Australian. She has written this book after doing a great deal of research on what it is like to be gay, especially in a time when it was thought to be illegal and immoral. Her book is a result of her personal stories and academic research from a sociological stance on the topics of homosexuality and sexual diversity.
