Being fortunate to receive an author's copy for review, I didn't know what to expect. The synopsis provided was revealing and yet, vague enough to create an air of mystery and to pique one's curiosity. The memoir takes you through a couple of centuries, although, the Internet existed and was becoming more popular. It deals with life's moments, as the author allows us a glimpse into his memories, behind blue eyes where we are taken on a ride, a rollercoaster of emotions. The unpredictability of life is truly highlighted along with the challenges arising from each moment. I must note, I quite enjoyed the humour used in the opening in particular and the use of flashbacks or points of reference to use another term. As the final chapter arises, the author has you not only pondering, but realising how fragile and how wonderful life can be. This being the first memoir I've read, I am unable to gauge it within the genre. Nevertheless, the author shows us glimpses of his personality, and I thought it to be clever, leaving the reader wondering... 'and now!.. what's next... are they or are they not!' I don't believe memoirs have multiple parts (I could be mistaken), but what curiosity has me wanting to know more. Sometime rules are meant to be re-shaped. At 208 pages, I found it to be an insightful and enjoyable read. There were moments that had me choked up, calling for a break to recompose myself. I'd recommend Behind Blue Eyes.
