The author is a laid back individual with a lively sense of humour. He is a proud family man with a wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of who he loves to bits. His working life has been mainly associated with furniture and he played amateur cricket and golf to a modest standard most of his adult life. Now in his late 70s, his body no longer lends itself to sporting activities.
If you want a nice relaxing easy read this will be the book for you.
It is a story of a young man with a young family he is trying to make a better life for them all, along with a few friends he gets involved in a some ventures, the friends very obviously have a love of antiques, so any antique lovers out there this will be of special interest, but even if you don't know a lot about antiques it is still very enjoyable.
A great easy going read written by a new author. The book is well written and very enjoyable to read. The story is about day-to-day activities from antiques dealing to horse racing along with family life. I do hope this writer continues to write further books. Well done Richard Dickson
This is a lovely gentle meander through life in the antiques world in the 1960s. The characters are extremely likeable and the historical detail draws you back to that era. The added excitement of the parts about the world of racing brings an extra dimension. Well done to Richard Dickson for your debut novel. I’m looking forward to reading the next one!
I loved this book, a real page-turner. I was quickly immersed in a warm, witty, and charming adventure set in the world of antiques and horse racing in 1960s Britain, with family and friendship values at its heart. As well as being an enjoyable novel, there is a lot of detail about antiques to learn about, I do hope there is more to come from this author.
