When a famous writer steals a manuscript from his daughter and tragically dies after the book is released, Dasha, a young show business reporter from Vilnius, must make a decision that will define her future: to tell the truth about what the author did or hide it to protect his memory. Plagiarism scandal, the war for attention, drug abuse, love, greed, and ambition fuel the hunt for sensations of the young journalist and guide her in finding her own inner compass to navigate the uncertainty and find the way to happiness.

If the books of Frederic Beigbeder and Michel Houellebecq were hard liquors, Hearts of Cotton would be a cocktail, where Gossip Girl meets The Ideal and Atomised, leaving you wondering whether all the challenges and struggles are there to remind the characters of their true calling, or perhaps all of us should sometimes recalibrate our inner compasses to reflect on our goals and dreams.

The story touched me deeply - I guess it just found me at the right time. All the main characters are very different, yet so relatable! The way they grow and develop is so unexpected, but this is what truly makes them so close to us. A character that you might have disliked in the very beginning shows up as a beautiful soul by the end of the story, and someone who you thought is nice and kind to their roots demonstrates the worst of their character - but isn’t it what makes us human, after all?

I finished reading the story within a week— just couldn’t stop reading, wondering where the journey will take those characters. And after saving so many photos on my phone of all my favorite passages, I hope this story will find more readers from around the world, because it truly made an impact for me. Looking forward to more from Uliana!

When I picked up this book, I didn’t know what to expect.
I was positively surprised by the depth of the characters, the unexpected twists of the plot, and an unusual premise. After actually visiting Vilnius, a lot of images from the book became more vivid and very exciting. Perfect read for those wondering about what to do next in their lives after studies or while changing jobs. Highly recommended!

Not just a pretty cover but a fun, contemporary read with depth and understanding of human nature.
