“Dark romantasy with Greek Gods” I was sent this review copy by the publisher. Braelyn is a princess of one of the highest Houses of the Gods. Her house serves Themis and she is also forced to do Hecate’s bidding despite the immense cruelty shown to her by Hecate and her mother. She is raised to be their little soldier. Theo is a reaper with lineage from Hades. His whole family are reapers and they enforce the will of the gods as enforcers, punishers, assassins. As children they met but circumstances tear them apart. Braelyn thinking he betrayed her and Theo thinking she had been killed. As adults they meet and are bound together by the gods. Despite the hatred they have for each other, they begin to care for each other, forced together by this bond. What will they do when a betrayal from family leads to Braelyn being kidnapped and a plot against her is uncovered? Will she be able to complete her mission while discovering the dark truth of herself? And will her heart survive the events that occur? Wow, just wow. I haven’t read a book that involves the Greek gods for a while and I thought that this would be similar to the ones I’ve read but it’s dark, sexy, suspenseful and full of drama and danger. It melds the Greek gods we know with drugs, cartels and the modern world so well. Julene has written such an amazing book that sucks you in so quickly in just a couple of chapters. I found it so difficult to put down. If you like dark romantasy involving gods, this is a book for you.
Really enjoyed reading this, Braelyn was by far my favourite character in this book. World building, romance and some tension building between Braelyn and Theo. An easy read!
