Ann was born and raised in London and her favourite subject at school was English. Ann’s family are the most important thing to her and if she isn’t spending time with her family, you will find her jotting down her ideas for future books while watching a good drama or football. Recently, Ann became a grandmother, and has even more incentive (if any needed) to keep writing children’s books. Ann prefers to write in rhyme and Oh No! is Ann’s first book but with several more being planned.
Oh No! by Ann Welford is a children's book about the animals we can find in our gardens. It's a beautifully illustrated book with rhymes about a little boy who discovers the animals living in his garden. He recognizes each one and shares little bits of information about them. The book ends with a lovely message: we can watch these little creatures and learn from them, but we shouldn't touch them. I liked that the texts were short and fun, making the book easy for young readers to enjoy. The illustrations had incredible colours and showed exactly what the text was talking about, making the whole experience even more engaging. It's a great book for young readers and also a lovely family activity for reading with smaller children who don't know how to read yet.
I just bought this book for my grandson. I really enjoyed acting out the sounds and movement with him and he loved it. Excellent!
