Book Description

Say hello to a little girl called Shirley Murley and join her as she lives her busy, busy rhyming life with her Mummy and Daddy and her friends.

Whether you are just starting out as a new reader and beginning to enjoy reading on your own, or you are reading together and sharing a book during story-time, adorable Shirley Murley will always make you smile.

Take a look at all the little extra details in Shirley’s story and see what else you can see. How many bees can you find? Can you spot the aeroplane? Will you see the kitten? Can you find the dragonflies?

Welcome always-early, curly Shirley Murley from Burnley.

Su has been happily married to Darren for over 30 years and has two grown up children, Emma and Lucas. They live in a small village in rural Hertfordshire, and being part of the village community is very important to Su. Having entertained her children by reading together as they grew up, she has charmed her family and friends with her comical rhymes for many years, and now has finally taken the next step to bring her humorous rhyming stories to a much wider audience.

The picture rhyming book, Shirley Murley with child friendly illustrations makes this a fun book to read aloud to children. As Shirley goes through her story, there are more fun words added to describe, Shirley Murley. I highly recommend this book.

We loved this book. Such a simple idea but really well executed with lovely illustrations. We read it to our granddaughters who are 2 & 3.5yrs and they run around chanting the rhymes and making up their own. Sure it is going to spark off lots of reading and writing ideas as they grow older.

This delightful book is a pleasure to share with young children. There are things to spot in the pictures, and the rhyming, repeating structure makes it a really interactive book.

This book is a must have for every young child. Its wonderful illustrations and rhyming words will keep you entertained throughout. Having worked with children all my life I know the importance of rhyme in early readers. Shirley Murley is a fun read for all the family.

I brought this for my grandson, before he got to see it in the flesh his mum was video calling me and said grandson was having a tantrum. I was able to get his attention by waving the book and saying look what nanny has for you. About ten minutes later and nanny had done her best reading and showing of the pictures the tantrum had stopped and there was one happy little boy. Su Murley’s book is very amusing and well illustrated I would recommend it.

Bought for my eldest for her birthday but both of my daughters love this book (4 and 7). The rhyming element is fantastic, perfect for young children. Beautiful illustrations too.

Bought this book in hope it would entertain my young niece and we are so happy with it! The book quality itself it excellent, the pages feel premium throughout. The story itself was great for both myself and my niece, making us both laugh as we said the tongue-twisting rhymes together. The images are beautiful and really bring Shirley to life. Would recommend for anyone with youngsters in the family, a great story that will help with reading ability too.

This charming book is perfect for reading aloud. With a strong rhyming, repeating pattern, children enjoy joining in with the story, and even predicting which word comes next! The illustrations are bold and colourful, with lots of tiny details to spot. A joy!
