A woman wakes up with her arms and legs tied, realizing almost immediately she is lying on train tracks. And to make matters worse, she has no memory of who she is or how she got there.

As she tries to live her life, still unsure whether she should start fresh or keep looking for information about herself, she can’t shake the feeling that there is something different about her. And, slowly, some memories start coming back to her, but they only bring more questions rather than answers.

Born and raised in a village on the coast of Portugal, Íris Carriço has loved to write ever since she learned how to. Although science is another one of her passions, having a Bachelor Degree in biomedical sciences and a Master’s in forensic science, she has never stopped writing.

When she was still in primary school, it was the first time she combined both her love for science and writing and published a story on the newspaper of a Science Centre in Portugal. Now, in her first novel The Healed, both of her passions are combined again.
